Two of Razer's CES Prototypes Stolen From Show Floor, "Industrial Espionage" Not Ruled Out

PC company Razer announced two ambitious-looking prototypes at the Consumer Electronics Show last week, including a laptop with three screens and a smart projector. Project Valerie (the laptop) and Project Ariana (the projector) are pretty eye-catching pieces of technology–and thieves apparently took notice.

According to Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan, two of its prototypes were stolen from the company’s CES booth over the weekend, though he didn’t say which ones. Razer filed police reports and is currently working with CES show management and law enforcement to discuss what comes next. The executive added that “industrial espionage” has not been ruled out.

“We treat theft/larceny, and if relevant to this case, industrial espionage, very seriously–it is cheating, and cheating doesn’t sit well wi...

Nintendo Switch Accessories From Hori Leak, Include an Arcade Stick, Joy-Con Charging Dock

A number of Nintendo Switch accessories from third-party peripheral company Hori have seemingly leaked, just days prior to the system’s full reveal.

As shared on Twitter by user DroidXAce (via NeoGAF user yoonshik), most noteworthy of these may be a 150 Euro (about $158) arcade stick. These are primarily associated with fighting games, of which none have been announced for Switch so far. If accurate, this may suggest that at least one is on the way. Nintendo plans to showcase many of the system’s games during presentations on Thursday and Friday.

Big Yahoo Changes: CEO Resigning From Board, Name Change Coming

Nintendo Switch Preorders Announced for New York Store on Friday

Ahead of Thursday’s livestream presentation, Nintendo has announced the upcoming availability of Switch preorders.

In a tweet this afternoon, the account for Nintendo’s New York City retail store said, “A limited quantity of preorders for the Nintendo Switch will begin on 1/13 at 9 AM while supplies last” at Nintendo NYC. The store is located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza.

Nintendo Switch Preorders Announced for New York Store on Friday

There’s no indication of how limited quantities will be. New game consoles, particularly those from Nintendo, routinely sell out, and availability for Switch is expected to be limited. The phrase “limited quantities,” while no surprise, doesn’t inspire confidence given the difficulty in obtaining an NES Classic Edition. That $60 system continues to sell out whenever it’s restocked, even two months after its launch.
