Nintendo Switch Accessories Announced by Third-Party Company

Consumer electronics company Snakebyte has announced a line of Nintendo Switch and NES Classic Edition accessories, which are scheduled to go on sale this spring.

Starting with the Switch accessories, one of these is a headset that features a 40mm drivers that Snakebyte says will provide “crisp, clear gaming audio.” Another item is what’s being called the Nintendo Switch Starter Kit. This comes with a carrying bag for the system, stereo earbuds, a cleaning cloth, a screen protector, game cases, and more. Here’s an image of all of this:

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's "Reinforce" Mode Returns Today for a Limited Time

Another multiplayer mode for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now.

“Reinforce” is a team-based 4v4 mode where players must capture points to revive teammates. To win, you need to obtain all the points or wipe out the enemy team.

Writing on Reddit, Infinity Ward shared some tactics. “You may want to wait to capture your first point until you need to revive your teammates that fell while taking ‘B.’ As an elimination mode, move tactically and remember teamwork is key,” the developer suggested.

Reinforce is available in Infinite Warfare now through Monday, January 9, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. It isn’t completely new for Infinite Warfare, as it was featured in a playlist back in December.

Closed Crytek Studio Reborn As Independent Developer

Crytek Black Sea, one of the five studios recently shut down by publisher Crytek, has reformed as a new studio: Black Sea Games.

The company states on its new website that it was formed in November 2016, which predates Crytek’s December studio closure announcement, suggesting the shutting of those studios could have occurred earlier than previously thought. The website also confirms that Black Sea Games is currently working on a project, but isn’t yet ready to announce anything.

The studio’s mission statement reads “Our mission is to create hard-core games that will entertain you over and over again. We believe the best gaming experiences are coming from challenging the players with meaningful choices, while giving them the freedom to create (and share) their own in-game stories.”

Pokemon Snap Coming to Wii U Virtual Console Tomorrow

Pokemon Snap, the beloved N64 Pokemon photography spinoff, will be available on the Wii U Virtual Console in North America beginning tomorrow, January 5. It was made available in Japan in April 2016 and Europe in August.

This North American release comes on the heels of bestseller Pokemon Sun and Moon‘s Poke Finder camera feature, which works similarly to Pokemon Snap. With Poke Finder, you can take photos of Pokemon in specific areas and “upload” them to get NPC likes and comments.

A new update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition has arrived on PC and PlayStation 4.

As detailed on Bethesda’s website (via DualShockers) the 1.3 update includes “general stability and performance improvements,” while it also fixes an issue where slow time effects “weren’t behaving properly.” Additionally, 144hz PC displays should have better support with this update applied. The update also fixes a problem that kept people from being able to log into Bethesda.net.

The Special Edition’s 1.3 update has been available on PC in beta form on Steam since December. The patch will come to Xbox One “soon,” Bethesda said.

Mass Effect: Andromeda PC Requirements Being Revealed Next Month

Following the announcement of Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s release date this week, BioWare today revealed when it may announce the game’s PC requirements and further detail its multiplayer mode.

BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn said on Twitter today (via DualShockers) that the developer will reveal the PC requirements, “Probably closer to launch. Sometime in February I think.”

As for when BioWare will talk more about Andromeda’s multiplayer mode, Flynn said, “soon.”

Mass Effect: Andromeda’s release date has finally been confirmed as March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe. The confirmation follows months of speculation and leaks.

In another news, a fresh batch of screenshots have emerged, while a new trailer was published during CES this week.

First Aliens Found in Elite: Dangerous

A player in the galaxy-spanning space combat game Elite: Dangerous has revealed a new, intriguing secret: proof of alien life. According to a post on Reddit, Xbox user DP Sayre discovered and recorded the first alien contact while playing the game on Xbox One.

Developer Frontier Games seemed to confirm the encounter with a tweet sharing an image of the alien craft with the text, “A report just coming through that a CMDR has experienced something… strange.”

New Zelda: Breath of the Wild Art Shows a Gorgeous Sunset and Enemy

Nintendo continues to release new art for its highly anticipated RPG, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Posted on Facebook, one of the new images shows off the game’s Guardian enemies.

According to Nintendo, they come in a “variety of shapes and sizes.” As people have pointed out, this particular one appears to have Swiss Army Knife-like hands. The second image, posted to celebrate the New Year, shows Link looking out into gorgeous sunset. You can see both in the gallery below.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

A special edition of Mario Kart 8 has been confirmed for Nintendo Switch. It will launch April 28, 2017.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will come with all the DLC from the Wii U version plus new courses, including one based off Splatoon‘s Urchin Underpass.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also has a slew of added features, like the ability to carry two items at once (from Mario Kart: Double Dash), output to TVs at 1080p, and a “Smart Steering” feature. See the full list of features on Nintendo’s website.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was initially teased in the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer. It will cost $60.

Nintendo Switch is launching March 3.
